Reaching my goals
In Campus Life, you learned what you need to do to be successful in college.
- What the differences are between high school and college
- What your college professors will expect from you and how to communicate with them
- How to get accommodations in college
- What to do in college to help you with your classes
- What technology options may be useful
After reading about those topics and watching the videos of college students with disabilities talk about their experiences, you still may have some questions. For example, maybe you have some questions about what the accommodation process is at the college you are interested in attending. Your goal might be “I want to learn the steps I need to take to get accommodations at the college I’m interested in.”
Print this page and answer the following questions to help guide you through setting your goal and developing your plan. If you have difficulty setting your goal, review “Setting my goals” in My Place. You can also talk with your teacher or a family member to help you.
- What is your goal? I want to …
- When do you want to accomplish this goal?
- What is your plan for reaching your goal?
- What needs to be done first?
- What are the resources, assistance or people you will need to help you reach your goal?
- What are the things that may interfere with reaching your goal?
- Is your plan working for you?
- How can you adjust your goal or plan to make it work?
- Once you’ve reached your goal, take time to celebrate and start working toward a new goal.
